Corona virus and its impact on the fashion industry
The outbreak of COVID-19 has disrupted the world since the news of the outbreak in China in late January. It is clear that the fashion industry has taken somewhat of a hit in a number of ways.
Super model Naomi Campbell breaks the Internet once again after photos of her in full protective gear was posted on her instagram account. she has even been re-posting memes created by her fans. Great way to educate people on staying hygienic and safe.
People are turning to online shopping and sales of luxury goods have decreased with China, fashions main supplier being on lockdown. The most dramatic affect on the outbreak is the cancellation of many fashion week shows due to concerns, mainly the ‘inbetween’ Resort season which displays luxurious commercial collections. These shows usually take place in Spring and bring together notable fashion players from all around the world. Gucci, Burberry, Prada are amongst the brands that have cancelled their resort shows.

This causes for discussion about the future of fashion. It is currently at 50/50 with some designers pulling their shows and live streaming whilst others are still in full force. I guess only time will tell if this is the end of the runway.
This is scary times for the world and we all have a role to play to stop the spread of corona virus.
